Did you know that Canada is a huge country, slightly lesser in size than the whole of Europe? It is 3 times the size of India and 142 times the size of Ireland. It is spread over 8,000 km / 5,500 mi. wide, from Atlantic to Pacific coasts. The place has six-time zones.  So, the best time to visit Canada actually depends on your interests – it can be fishing, boating, skiing anything.

The summer season runs from mid-July through August. There are many scenic highways promising awesome summertime adventures, along the Alaska Highway, stretching nearly 1,400 miles from Dawson Creek, British Columbia, to Delta Junction. There is another one called Icefields Parkway in Alberta, which is one of the most scenic locales in the world for summer time adventure. During the summer, you can also the rent a canoe and set out on a mirrored lake or sleep under the stars.

If you are going post October, you will find most parts of Canada bathed in hues of orange, gold and yellow. This makes for stunning travel photography.  You will find a lot of red maples leaves around from late September to November.  You may also experience rain in early November. The best experience is paddling a canoe or driving through the Rocky Mountains in Alberta.

The winter wonderland

Canada is absolutely gorgeous in the winter.  It is also the best time to experience northern lights. The temperature goes well below zero degrees but then you benefit from best hotel prices!

So, if you are coming to Canada in summer, the best time to visit is mid-June through mid-October and the best time to visit Canada in winter is mid-December to mid-March
