How Rome City Pass Works

 

When buying the Rome City Pass, you select the number of people and days. Your Pass is sent by mail or you can pick it when you arrive in Rome. A voucher is send to you that you will exchange for the Pass once you are in Rome. The Rome City Pass gives you free admission and reduced admission to various attractions. The Pass also comes with a hop-on hop-off bus tour that has audio comments presented to you for free. You can have as many rides as you wish with the tram, metro, and bus within the city center. The Pass also offers free airport transfer from Ciampino airport, which is done by bus in line 520 and 720.

 

Prices of The Rome City Pass

The pricing structure of the Rome City Pass is mostly done based on the duration of the Pass and the age of the Pass holders.

  • A 2-day Rome City Pass will cost 98.90 Euros for adults, 45.90 Euros for teens age 10 to 17, and 29.90 Euros for a child age 6 to 9 years
  • A 3-day Rome City Pass goes for 99.99 Euros for adults, 59.90 Euros for teens, and 29.90 for children
  • A 6-day Rome City Pass costs 159.90 Euros for an adult, 69.90 for a teen, and 29.90 for a child.

 

What’s Included In the Pass

 

Rome City Pass gives you entry to the leading attractions and museums within Rome. You have free entry to the St Peter’s Basilica, Sistine Chapel, and the Vatican Museums. You also enjoy discounts at other museums and attractions. A hop-on hop off bus tour and free public transport are also included in the Pass. One great thing about the Rome City Pass is that you can customize your trip. It does not limit you on time, you decide where and when to visit.

 

Other inclusions in the Pass are:

  • You skip the lines at the Colosseum and St Peter’s Basilica
  • You get 20 percent discount off the regular price for the Sistine Chapel, Vatican Museums, and others like Galleria Borghese, Castell Sant Angelo, Museo Nazionale Romano, Mamertine Prison, and Thermea Carcalla
  • You get 20 percent discount on cruises including Rome Dinner Cruise, Hop on Hop off Cruise, and Wine Bar Cruise

Once you have activated the Pass, it is valid for the 2, 3, or 6 consecutive days, depending on the duration you have choose to use it. The 2 day Rome City Pass will be valid for 48 from the time of insertion of your passport, which is most in the transport or one of the attractions. You need to be careful on when you have the Pass start working. The validity of your pass is not extendable even when you get a blackout day in a museum or when the validity period is on a holiday.

 

If you change plans and you don’t want to use it, you can cancel the order, but it has to be done one day before the start date of the Pass. When you return the Pass, you will get a refund, however, there is a penalty of €20 imposed as service charge for every Pass. Note that this penalty is for every Pass and not every ticket. Ensure that the validity period and name haven’t been filled in, otherwise, if these details have already been filled in the Pass, you won’t get the refund since it is deemed invalid.
