Is Prague Card worth it?

The Prague Card can be described as a city sightseeing card which allows tourists to check the many amazing attractions of the gorgeous city in an easy and affordable way. It is important to note that there are two different kinds of sightseeing cards for the city of Prague; one is the Prague Card and the other is the Prague City Pass. The latter is ideal for those tourists who want to stay in the city for more than 4 days and wish to check out everything that the city has on offer at a discounted price.

The Prague Card allows the users to get free entry to 50 great tourist attractions in the city as well as considerable discounts and deals on tickets to over 30 other locations. The card also offers free and unlimited use of the public transport system in the city. Tourists thus get to not only save loads of money, but also valuable tourist time.

Tourists can check out top attractions like the fabulous Jewish Museum, the Prague Castle, Vyšehrad, Petřín Tower, and Old Town Hall as well as many other popular museums, monuments, and galleries. Prague card holders can also avail of a two hour free bus tour of historical Prague attractions as well as get substantial discounts on other kinds of tours.

The Prague card is ideal for tourists who are on a long weekend trip to the city and want to check out the many attractions, galleries, museums, the entire complex of Prague Castle, etc., on a free access basis. Prices of Prague Card

The Prague Card is available for adults and children/student. It can be purchased with validity period of 2, 3, or 4 days.

The prices of Prague Adult card for the different periods of validity are as follows:

  • 2-day adult Prague Card – 1,550 CZK which is approximately €58.00
  • 3-day adult Prague Card – 1,810 CZK which is approximately €68.00
  • 4-day adult Prague Card – 2,080 CZK which is approximately €78.00

The prices of Prague Adult card for the different periods of validity are as follows:

  • 2-day Child/Student Prague Card – 1,150 CZK which is approximately €43.00
  • 3-day Child/Student Prague Card – 1,330 CZK which is approximately €50.00
  • 4-day Child/Student Prague Card – 1,520 CZK which is approximately €57.00

It may be noted that the child/student Prague card can be availed only by children aged between 6 and 16 years as well as by students who are studying full-time, up to the age of 26 years. It is important for students to have a valid student ID in order to use a student Prague card.

Kids under the age of 6 years have free access to the public transport network. They also have free entry to most of the attractions in the city.

 

Prague Card – where to buy

You can purchase the Prague Card at varied Prague City Tourism Information Centres, including the following places:

  • Terminal 2 and Terminal 1 at the Václav Havel Airport in Prague
  • Old Town Hall located at Old Town Square 1 (Staroměstské náměstí 1)
  • Upper part of Wenceslas Square located at the corner of Štěpánská Street
  • Rytířská Street 12located at the corner of Na Můstku Street

Tourists may be asked to sign their Prague Card just after buying them. Officials often ask tourists to sign it so that it cannot be used by others if lost by you. It may however be noted that it is not necessary to sign the card and date it just after buying it; you may do so only on the first day that you begin using it.

It is also important to remember that the card becomes valid only when it has the name of the holder and the starting date of usage. If the starting date is not present on the card, then the card cannot be used as it is invalid. In instances of use of undated Prague card, there is a risk of penalty being imposed by transport authorities as well as denial of entry to the varied free attractions.

The Prague card comes with a free guidebook which can help you plan your sightseeing trip to the awesome attractions in the city. The guidebook is available in 7 languages, i.e., English, French, German, Spanish, Russian, Italian, and Czech. The guidebook contains detailed information about all the participant vendors. Information about each participant attraction is provided in its own page. The book also has intricate maps of the transport system and all the major districts of Prague.
